About Us
The Practice
Our Orthopaedic practice was founded in 2010, with our first branch at JMH City Hospital. Our aim was to provide a general Orthopaedic service to the hospital; based on evidence based medicine, ethical and cost effective medical practice. Our patients will have access to some of the best theatre and ward facilities, with the backing of the Netcare group.
Over the past five years or so, we have aimed at developing academically, with each of the two founding surgeons developing a niche sub-speciality. Dr Calvin Veerasamy has developed into a shoulder surgeon, tackling most of the common shoulder problems arthroscopically (ie via minimally invasive means). Dr Viren Kasipersad has taken an interest in foot and ankle pathology, including ankle arthroscopy. In addition to these, both surgeons perform Arthroplasty (hip and knee joint replacements); knee surgery (including ligament reconstructions); all trauma, including pelvic and polytrauma patients. A large number of day cases for "minor" Orthopaedic problems are also encountered.
We look forward to continue providing an Orthopaedic service of excellence to all our patients.
